On the sidelines of the Africa Forward Meeting 2026 in Nairobi, Professor Fidèle Tiendrebéogo, representing the WAVE Regional Centre of Excellence, took part in a side event dedicated to strengthening scientific autonomy through the joint development of high-level digital training programmes on 12 May 2026.
Alongside Professor François Sabot of the IRD, he co-led a presentation on the International Certificate in Bioinformatics and Genomics (CIBiG) programme, an initiative based on a One Health approach aimed at sustainably strengthening capacities in bioinformatics, genomics and high-performance computing.
The discussions highlighted the importance of equitable partnerships, scientific co-development and the strengthening of regional skills to support the production and use of genomic data for research and development.
