WAVE RESEARCH has a network of 17 laboratories with cutting-edge equipment in 10 Central and West Africa countries including: / Molecular Virology Laboratory Plant Tissue Culture and Propagation Laboratory Nanopore sequencing services (sample preparation, library construction, sequencing and data delivery) / Valorization of Symbiotic Microorganisms Laboratory Service Provision Laboratory (available to government agencies, the private sector, scientists and students in the region)
Digital data collection tools
Digital data collection tools form a core capability of our institution, enabling rapid, accurate, and standardized capture of plant health data across diverse field sites. Through mobile-based surveys, GPS-tagged imagery, and real-time diagnostic applications, our teams gather high-quality data even in remote and resource-limited environments. These tools ensure data integrity, traceability, and interoperability with national and regional plant health surveillance systems. Ultimately, our digital data infrastructure strengthens evidence-based decision-making and accelerates the detection and response to emerging plant health threats.

Disease modeling
We simulate and forecast the spread of plant pathogens and pests across varying agroecological and climatic conditions. By integrating epidemiological and spatial data, our models help predict outbreak risks and identify high-vulnerability zones before disease onset. These predictive tools support early-warning systems and inform targeted, cost-effective intervention strategies for farmers and policymakers alike. Ultimately, our disease modelling outputs strengthen regional preparedness and resilience against emerging plant health threats.
Advocacy
With our national response plans against cassava viral diseases co-developed by WAVE RESEARCH and adopted in 10 of the WAVE RESEARCH network countries, our governments are better prepared for rapid and appropriate responses to contain the spread of these pathogens.
