Plant Health Regional Convening - Abuja 2026

For two days, Abuja became the meeting point for Africa&s leading voices in plant

health. Ministers, policymakers, researchers, National Plant Protection Organizations

(NPPOs), farmer organizations, development partners and private sector

representatives gathered for the Plant Health Regional Convening 2026, held

under the theme & Securing Africa's Harvest: Scaling Impact Through Plant

Health Partnerships in Central and West Africa.

Co-hosted by WAVE RESEARCH and the Federal Ministry of

Agriculture and Food Security of Nigeria (FMAFS), the convening provided a

unique platform to assess the region's preparedness against transboundary plant

pests and diseases, strengthen regional cooperation and define a common roadmap

for protecting Africa's food systems.
